Re: Martha’s Woodcut

The block is actually quite warped and I had a good deal of difficulty getting much of an even print. I am going to try to flatten the woodcut (steam & clamp to flat surface), but for now this was the best I could do; it’s nice to get a sense for the design, however.

The woodcut is also actually slightly larger than the Vandercook’s printable area. Not entirely sure what I am going to do about that.

My mom found this woodcut over Thanksgiving as she set about cleaning out my folks’ garage in Los Angeles. My dad’s mother carved it years ago and I am going to try to run some prints from it.

It’s a bit warped – bows in from the top and bottom – but I reckon I locked it in fairly flat.

I am stoked to report that we have printed several new prints by Dan Funderburgh and Michael Perry. Dan’s print – ‘Census’ - is a signed and numbered 3-color edition to benefit the campaign for Barack Obama – Dan’s donating all proceeds to the campaign.

Universe Factory by Michael Perry is actually an edition of 4 prints available individually or as a set.

We reprinted the We are so good together prints on speckletone natural paper over the weekend for those of you who were waiting.

I am also pretty stoked to print some new posters next week with Mike Perry and a few other folks.

I am pumped to release a new print for the store by Matt Hollister. It’s a two color poster and measures 13 by 20 inches.

We ran a hundred off over the course of one evening a couple weeks back with a little moral support from Sam Friedman.

We printed Hard Time by Chuck Agro over the weekend on the Vandercook.

It’s a signed open edition printed on Speckletone Madero measuring 11 by 13 inches and available for purchase in the store.

I am really enjoying working with artists on these prints for the store. Hit me up if you are interested in collaborating on a print.

We printed Gravity’s Rainbow by Dan Funderburgh this past Friday on the Vandercook. It’s a three color print that we ran in two editions (one limited and the other open).

You can pick one of the prints up in the store if you are so inclined.

We’ve been busy printing editions with some other folks these past few weeks. We’ll start selling several of the new prints in a couple days and will likely be releasing a new print each Monday through the rest of the summer.

Thanks to Hunt we have another run of We are so good together prints in stock. If you’ve been waiting to grab one, now is I suppose as good a time as any.

Over the weekend, we printed an edition with Noah Rauch and Jody Avirgan. You can pick one up in the store if you like.

It’s a two-color run of 100 handset woodtype prints measuring 13 by 20 inches and part of our summer collaborations.

We have ten of Cannonball Press’ We Can Burn That Bridge When We Come To It woodcut/letterpress prints now available in the store. They measure 18”x24” inches and were handtooled, hand-inked and printed by Martin Mazzora here in Brooklyn.

Another great print from Nicholas
